POSITION SUMMARY :

The Registered Nurse assists physicians and staff with the daily coordination of patient care and to facilitate physician access. Primary support person for the physicians.

 

REPORTS TO :

The Registered Nurse reports to the Office Manager/Key Staff/Lead.

 

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

•  Performs selected nursing duties, history and physical, vital signs, assist in minor procedures and maintain confidentiality.

•  Prepare, stock and clean exam room, maintain supplies and equipment for treatment.

•  Help with scheduling of tests and/or treatment at the office or another facility.

•  Provides information on procedures and screen phone calls for physicians.

•  Assist in maintaining up to date and stocked sample closet, and checking all medications for expiration.

•  Translate for physicians as necessary regarding instructions, medications and diagnosis. Communicates test results to patients and physicians.

•  Enhances professional growth and development through meetings, education, conferences, etc.

•  Maintains a clutter-free, clean environment in every patient's room.

•  Performs other duties as assigned.

 

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE :

Graduate from an accredited school of nursing, RN license; ongoing CPR certification.

Minimum of one year clinic experience.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

He/she must be able to read, write and communicate clearly in English. He/she must have knowledge of basic nursing practices, clinic policies/procedures, and paperwork. He/she must have knowledge of how to use office equipment including phone and computer.

He/she must have the ability to maintain a clutter-free, organized exam area; the ability to respond with flexibility to changing work load or patient assignments; ability to use department supplies and equipment in a cost-efficient, effective manner; ability to communicate clearly in person and on the phone and establish/maintain cooperative relationships with patients, families, physicians, staff and other customers.

Varied activities including standing, sitting, walking, reaching, bending and lifting. Requires full range of body motion, including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
